I LOVE that movie!
In the interview with the director, he said he wanted the actress who played Juliet's lover to play Justine, that it would have been a much better film, that with the young, inexperienced girl the studio insisted on, he was limited to doing a kind of perverse "Alice in Wonderland", but that's exactly what I love about this film. The girl is so young & innocent looking! That's what makes the film so HOT, in my opinion.
I have the version with Koo Stark in my rental queue, and even though I think she's a very attractive woman, I bet I won't find the film nearly as hot.
Any thoughts from anyone on this, or on the film in general?
As an added note, I LOVE Jack Palance in this film! He's such a brilliant nut job! Not afraid to tak his performance WAY over the top!

Wed, March 16, 2005 - 12:38 AMDid you know that the director wanted to go with that other actress?
I don't think it would have been nearly as good. -

Re: Just watched Justine again.
Wed, March 16, 2005 - 7:48 AMYeah...I knew ;-)
It was in the interview on the DVD.
I bought it when it came out.
It's a great movie for the low budget and short time it was filmed in. -

Re: Just watched Justine again.
Wed, March 16, 2005 - 1:58 PMYeah. They had good actors & pretty lavish sets.
I'm assuming you've seen the Koo Stak version. Is it pretty much the same story? Is it hot? Is it lame?
I'll probably see it no matter what, just for curiosity's sake. -

Re: Just watched Justine again.
Wed, March 16, 2005 - 2:11 PMI think I've seen it.
If it's what I think it is - it's pretty ordinary IMO.
I don't remember being impress.
I think it was less accurate to the book.

Re: Just watched Justine again.
Tue, March 29, 2005 - 8:16 AMI have a friend who was Jack Palance's assistant for 10 years. He says Palance is a nut job and a first class pain in the posterior. Hint: my friend says he basically plays himself *shudder*...

Re: Just watched Justine again.
Tue, April 12, 2005 - 10:39 PMI was talking about the '69 version, but I just saw the '70 one last week.
They both had their merits. Very different films based on the same story. The '69 version had more of an Alice in Wonderland quality to it, while the '70 version was more of a stark, harsh reality.
Have you seen them both?
What are your thoughts on them? -
