I noticed in an earlier discussion that some of you think that Quills is fact based. It is pure speculation, like Marat/Sade or Immortal Beloved...actual places and characters, but fiction. The stories on Quills are fabrications emulating the Master, by a fan. I think he did a damned fine job, as did the participants...I've seen the play Quills as well, and there is a scene of pure satanic beauty that they left out of the film...as the young priest is ravishing the dead girl, the Marquis appears behind a transparent curtain in a dark room. He is naked and crucified and intones the priest's name in a low rumbling chant! Ahhh, loveliness.
I thought I'd share.

Re: QUILLS
Mon, February 7, 2005 - 10:10 AMSo I'm just getting in the tribe, but damn it, I must say, Quills made me want Geoffrey Rush more than any other man alive. Way to be hot, sarcastic, and genius. Not sure if de Sade was so much a hero, but it's nice to think so. -
